About the Author:

Dr. Q. Fortich Oropilla is a medical specialist, trained at the New York University Medical Center, and University of Minnesota Graduate School of Medicine. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation; was formerly Associate Professor, University of the Philippines, College of Medicine-Philippine General Hospital.

This book was researched at the Archivo General de Filipinas, Archivo General de la Nacion in Mexico, Archivo Historico Militar and the Fabrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre in Madrid.

Dr. Oropilla was special awardee in Archival Research by the Philippine Numismatic and Antiquarian Society.

This book "Philippine Counterstamped Coins, 1828-1839" was awarded the Robert Freiberg Award by the Professional Numismatists Guild Inc, of the United States.
